My Favorite Crime

For you, my friend
I’d defy time again
Gladly I’d cheat,
Sneak my way into the web of the past
For I’d see you there with me
I’d see you run free

Time and again I’ve remembered you, my friend
Time is, I know, too precious to waste
But between now and the future
I’d choose the past I can’t alter
Often, often and again
For it is heaven, that look on your face

For you, my friend, I’d defy time again
Gladly I’d cheat,
Sneak my way into the stagnant past
For I’d see you run free
I’d see you with me
I’d see your beautiful coat and round tummy
I’d see you, my friend
Smart and naughty
I’d see the peaceful face when you’re sleeping
I’d see you dreaming – maybe about chasing cats
Yes, I’d see you there in history
The one I can’t have enough to last

For you, my friend, I have defied time
And more than gladly, I’d do it all again
because from time to time, still
Stealing moments of you
is my favorite crime.
